Renewal

2 Corinthians 5:17 - Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new

creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

It feels like spring! It looks like Spring! Trees and bushes are blooming. Birds are singing. The outside temperatures are warming. It is a time of renewal in the world of nature.

Significantly, but also coincidentally, our congregation is immersed this spring in preparing for a time of renewal as we continue the process of finding the right person to lead us as our new senior pastor. I described the remaining steps of the process in my April 5th blog. Now, almost a month later, we are on the door step of the next chapter in our spiritual journey together.

As you may have already heard, this Saturday, May 6, from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, there will be an opportunity at the church for members and friends to “meet and greet” the candidate who has been selected by the Call Committee, and who has been endorsed enthusiastically by the congregation Council. It will also be an opportunity for the candidate to get to know us better, especially those of us they haven’t already met. Conversations will be totally impromptu. There are no planned presentations. We hope all members will come out to show that we are, indeed, a very welcoming congregation.

Then, on Sunday, May 7, after our regular 9:30 am worship service that will be led by our candidate, we will hold a special congregational meeting in which we will decide whether or not to call the candidate to our ministry. Again, we hope all members will attend worship and the special meeting to show their solid support for our ministry.

See you this weekend!

Lutheran Church Wilmington

As a Reconciling in Christ congregation of the ELCA, we believe that the gospel is God's gift to all people, shared unconditionally and without regard to race, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, socio-economic or family status, age, physical or mental abilities, outward appearance, or religious affiliation. We seek racial equality and justice. In this way, we live into the truth written in Ephesians (2:14)—that Christ breaks down the dividing walls between us and makes us one.
